100th year Anniversary Celebration The committee continues planning for various activities. Mark your calendars now. Sunday, January 3, 2010.
Prayer and Fasting ( Beginning on
January 3, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. a day of prayer and fasting will begin. This special day is the kick off for our 100th
Year Anniversary of the church. There will be a prayer team member available to
greet you to instruct you as to how our time can be spent. A sheet of
suggestions for prayer will be available or you can have your own agenda. Everyone can pray by themselves and can
choose the choices available as to where you want to pray at your convenience. Pastor Bill and
Dorothy Fernhout will be with us leading the worship services in the morning
and evening. During the entire
time Elders will be available for you to partake in a time of communion by
yourself. Approximately 4:30 p.m. prayer and fasting ends and we will go into
the sanctuary for a Candlelight Service beginning at 5:00 p.m. lead by Pastor
Bill. After the service a light supper will be provided in the ROCK. This will be a
unique experience for all of us, and a good way to begin the New Year. Please come to be
a part of this special day and go home feeling cleansed and refreshed by what
you have experienced. The time you spend
in prayer is up to each individual, and we encourage you to pray as much as you
are able throughout the day along with fasting. The Candlelight
Service will have a time of praise with the Praise Team, and Elaine Dykema and
Cindy Deters at the piano and keyboard.
Bob Brower will be reading a summary of the history that is being
prepared for the booklet. Angela Beute will be our soloist while we are
lighting the candles.
Immediately
following the service, the Fellowship Committee is preparing a light supper for
all to attend. Even if you have been home for several hours, please plan to
come back to share in the Candlelight Service and the supper that’s being
prepared. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 (Ash Wednesday) and Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the p.m. service. We will have the reenactment of a living dramatization of Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper”. Former pastor Rev. Dr. Jack Doorlag will be leading both worship services. Communion will be served during the Wednesday evening service. The men taking part are: Jason Brower, Jim Brower, Bob Brower, John Christian, Doug DeVries, Don Freehafer, Lee Hackley, Dave Maleport, Dan Melville, Scott Noordhoek, Marv Owen, Dallas Thiel and Gary Wierenga. These presentations will be held in the ROCK and we will be inviting other churches to join us. We are pleased to include the Cadets in the building of the “set”. We will have special parking for seniors and handicapped and will have valet parking in case it’s slippery. Monday, April 22, 2010. The women are planning a Vintage Fashion Show in connection with our 100th anniversary. Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, 2010 will be our big celebration weekend. We are planning a banquet on Saturday, May 1 and have invited former pastors, spouses and families to participate. Communion will also be offered during the Sunday service. May 5, 1910 is the actual organizational date of our church and we hope to plan something for that Wednesday night (to be announced later with more details). Sunday, May 30, 2010. A special Memorial Day Service honoring all our past and present veterans, and current Servicemen/Women. This service will have a power point presentation along with special music and Color Guard.
